The observations and recommendations from the inspection are as follows: Each inspection team member was greeted enthusiastically by Latarsha Kelly and subsequently given a tour of the facility. Each employee encountered seemed to have more than sufficient knowledge of their duties and responsibilities. It was noted and shared that as Liberty County's population grows, the responsibilities of the Tax Assessors office to maintain storage of records mandated by the state and local laws grow. That being said, each department has adequately adjusted their space to accommodate this emerging requirement. Future consideration should be given to funding a larger, more updated facility to meet the growing needs and demands of an ever-increasing Liberty County population. signed the 6th day of August, 2026. Joseph Anthony, Grand Jury Foreperson To: The Clerk of Superior Court Date: March 16, 2026 Subject: Grand Jury- February Term 2026 Facility Inspection: Liberty County Jail Inmate Files On March 16, 2026, three (3) Grand Jury members, Sharon Churchwell, Vanessa Reynolds, and Jimmy Boulai, were tasked with the inspection of the Liberty County Jail Inmate Files. The observations and recommendations from the inspection are as follows: Major S. Krum now was very courteous in welcoming the inspection team and escorted them throughout the building explaining the purpose, policies, and procedures for each department. Every employee encountered seemed to have an excellent command and understanding of their roles and responsibilities. The facilities seemed to have been used in the manner that met the requirements of all who require services with the following exceptions: 1. More storage space is required for record storage as some holding cells have been converted to file storage to meet that need. 2. A larger breakroom would improve the employees' ability to relax and reset during their break time. 3. A ventilation upgrade would improve the air flow and quality of all who are in the building. 4. A software upgrade would enhance recordkeeping and work performance as well as provide greater efficiency. Future consideration should be given to funding a larger, more updated facility to meet the growing needs and demands of an ever-increasing Liberty County population.
